Herat-Khaf Railway was inaugurated during an official ceremony with an online speech by H.E Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and His Excellency Hassan Rouhani, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

H.E Ghani, President of Afghanistan, in his speech, referring to the facilities of this route for Afghanistan, said; the railway is one of the most efficient, useful and cheapest transportation system in Asia and is considered a transportation revolution. Stressing that Afghanistan's products are currently exported via the Herat-Khaf railway to the Islamic Republic of Iran, Turkey and European countries at low prices and in a short time, and called it as a new era in trade, transit, cultural, social and political relations between the two countries.

On the other side, His Excellency Hassan Rouhani, President of Iran, said; now Afghanistan's exports through this railway will reach European countries and Iranian products to Central Asian countries.

At the inauguration ceremony of the Herat-Khaf railway, which was held in Herat city of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and Khaf city of the Islamic Republic of Iran, by the order of the Presidents of the two countries, a train of export goods of Iran departures towards Afghanistan and another train transported Afghan export goods to Iran from Herat's Rosank railway station.

Welcoming the inauguration of the Herat-Khaf railway, the leadership of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce declares that Afghanistan can now export its products to all countries in the region and the world via railways at low prices and in a short time.

Currently, Afghanistan has four transit-trade Railways: Hairatan-Mazar-e-Sharif; Aqinah (Faryab); Torghundi (Herat) and Herat-Khaf, which connects to neighboring and the regional countries.

Moreover, efforts are underway on the construction of the 1st and 2nd phases of the 4th section of the Herat-Khaf railway and with its completion, a new chapter of transportations will begin.
